Myths About Pet Insurance

MYTH: Pet insurance works like human insurance.

FACT: Actually, the two types of insurance work differently. With our pet insurance, you can:

• Use any licensed veterinarian in the United States or Canada; there are no provider lists to choose from.

• Pay for services at the time received rather than worry about co-pays.

• Remit a claim form with your receipts to receive a reimbursement directly instead of keeping track of your membership card and identification number.

MYTH: Older pets are not eligible for coverage.

FACT: All pets, regardless of age, breed or health condition are eligible for our Level 1 coverage! All of our other pet insurance plans allow coverage for dogs prior to turning age 13 and cats prior to turning age 15. We want to protect your pet through a long, rewarding life.

MYTH: Pet insurance plans charge costly per incident deductibles.

FACT: With a Petshealth Care Plan Pet Insurance Plan, you are only responsible for meeting a $100 annual deductible per pet, not per incident! Once it is met, we reimburse 80% of usual and customary covered charges. These are costs covered by your pet insurance plan and considered reasonable in areas similar to yours. We use publicly available and proprietary veterinary fee information to determine fair reasonable costs.

MYTH: It is difficult to apply for a pet insurance plan.
